Situated in the heart of Southern Philippines, Bohol is a throbbing island province with rolling terrains of hills and mountains. From Cebu, take two-hour ferry ride to Tagbilaran. On arrival, you will be taken on a leisurely drive passing through scenic countryside of thick nipa palms, coconut plantations and mahogany forest going to the town of Carmen. Then, you will head to the Chocolate Hills where you can go up to view it at its highest point consisting of 1,268 haycock hills with heights ranging from 40 – 120meters.
During the summer, the dome-shaped-grass-covered limestone hills dry up and turn brown transforming the area into rows and rows of chocolate “kisses”. From here, you head to the Tarsier Sanctuary, which is a forest where visitors can see tarsiers, a small native primate, in its natural habitat. You get to stop at the Baclayon Church & Museum and the market commemorating Sikatuna as well as Legaspi’s blood compact.
