Easter Visayas Tour.
6 Days 5 Nights
Tour Code: LGGTTAC72
Pace: Moderate to Active
DAY 1 | Arrival at Tacloban City. Start your Eastern Visayas Escape by cruising along San Juanico Strait and witnessing one of the Philippines’ Engineering Marvel – the San Juanico Bridge. Late afternoon will be Ormoc City Walking Tour; Visit Sts Peter and Paul Cathedral, Ormoc City Museum, Punta de la Reyna and Veterans Park.
DAY 2 | After breakfast, proceed to Palompon, Leyte. After briefing at the Palompon Ecotourism office, you board a motorboat to Kalanggaman Island. The island got its name from the root word “langgam”, which means bird in Bisaya. Viewed from above, the two ends of the island seem to flap like bird’s wings with the changing tides. This 795-metre sandbar is nothing but sun, sand, and surf.
DAY 3 | Today is the Canaan Hill Farm and Honey Garden tour. This mid-sized farm in Caibiran is nestled on a hill. It boasts organic farm produce from its vegetables, fruits, livestock, and honey garden. A popular destination for local farmers and schools to learn rudiments of organic farming.
DAY 4 | Today, you head to Samar Island Natural Park Headquarters. Activities along the trail includes: trekking, orientation of the flora and fauna species that are endemic in the area, farm experience, sight-seeing at the view deck, bird watching, crossing a hanging bridge suspended more than 25ft and appreciation of the aesthetic value of the forest. After lunch, you get to experience Ulot River Torpedo Boat Ride, a ‘must-do’ the adventure junkie. It winds through different geographical features making every bend a surprise for the curious paddler. There are rapids for torpedo boating, where rushing waters splash against giant boulders. In between white-water courses are calmer sections for leisure drifts under forest canopy.
DAY 5 | Today is the Sohoton Caves and Natural Bridge Tour. A river cruise and a hike reveal the numerous cave systems hidden deep in the thick forest. It is a place where travelers may feel just how small they are against nature’s cathedrals—where large stone arches and karst formations loom overhead, stalactites glisten like chandeliers, and pillars of stalagmites rise out of the ground. After lunch, Balangiga’s claim to fame is the historical event known as the Philippine – American War at the turn of the century in 1901 where the Americans tasted their first defeat at the hands of Filipino freedom fighters. In retaliation, the American Forces laid to waste the town and its environs, turning it “into a howling wilderness”. They then took the three church bells as war booties.
DAY 6 | After breakfast, you go on a boat tour at the Marabut Rock Islets. Get astounded with Marabut’s 15 towering rock islands with secluded beach coves and coral gardens, perfect for snorkeling, scuba diving, sunbathing, and other water sports activities. After lunch is Tacloban City Cultural and Heritage Rolling Tour.
